Offertory Prayer for Pentecost 16B 2009
Bless what we share that it may do more than we think it will.
Bless what we share that it may do more than we think it will.
Let us share the life God has shared with us by giving us his only son through the offering as tokens of our appreciation.
This life in Christ can be ours, ours for the taking.
We know that we are forgiven, as we take the bread and the wine, which represents what, has been sacrificed for us.
Guide us to a better way of thinking. Steer us away from that dark world that would have us dead to a vision of what you have made possible for us.
We need to focus on God’s blessings, and how those blessings can help free the world of pain, hunger and injustice.
we ask for you to convert what we have which is less than perfect into that which is perfect in your eyes.
We can speak words describing our very thoughts. We can fashion our ideas into shapes, buildings and tools with our hands expressing visions in three dimensions.
By dying on the cross as a result of humanity’s hate and fear, and then rising from the dead, Jesus has allowed us a new way of life -- A life that will never end.
Yet, we are never far from the evil one. We fail to watch what we say. We say things we wish we could take back. We use words that destroy and hurt others. Our anger, frustration or hate is expressed in inappropriate ways.
