Morning Prayer for Pentecost 13B 2009

Based upon Deuteronomy 4:1-9

O Lord, bring us to terms with your law.  Help us to understand the purpose of it.  As we search the universe for understanding of your creation, we find a depth of purpose and meaning.  From the intricate design of a flower peddle to the beauty of a newborn child, the truth of your creation unfolds and your wisdom is revealed.   Give us a new and deeper grasp of the laws you put before us.  Help us to understand that they are not meant to restrict, but to free us.  They are meant to free us from fear of our neighbor, to protect our children from treachery so that they can grow strong before you.  They are meant to serve out justice and peace.  They are meant to free us to love each other as brothers and sisters in good standing before each other and you.  Renew in us a loyalty to your ways, and bless us in these endeavors.  Amen.
