Father’s Day Prayer

Gracious Lord, on this day we set aside to recognize fathers, we look to you for guidance and inspiration.

Guide the fathers among us to renew a commitment of service and support for their families.  Help them to search within themselves for the spirit of love you taught us through the example of Jesus’ life of self sacrifice. 

Give each father the courage to repel the temptations that constantly badger them. 

Help them to focus their attention to the needs, both spiritual and physical that their families require. 

Guide each father to identify and cherish the precious beauty of each of his children.

Guide each father to recognize the precious spiritual gifts you have given his children and with your inspiration and support nature and encourage those spirits to grow and thrive.

Guide each father to affirm and cherish the love and commitment he has for his wife.  Give him the strength to stand by her side in the service of the family and its needs.

Guide each father to allocate his priorities so that he has time to be with his family in their daily lives.

Guide each father to listen to his children and share in their aspirations and interests.

Guide each father to take an interest in his children’s friends. 

Give each father the courage to guard his family from all dangers.

Make each father an insistent instructor of your word to his children, and with his wife, set an example of his faith and moral character.

Inspire each father to new heights of valor when it comes to standing for the good and wholesome things in life.

Inspire each father to break away from the bondage of sin so that he might lead his family into freedom from guilt.

Inspire each father to set an example in prayer and renewed faith.

These things we pray in the name of Jesus our savior.  Amen.
