Based upon Mark 6:30-34, 53-56
For the Loaf:
Lord, we remember when Jesus broke the loaves and fishes and blessed them. The result was the feeding of countless people. Then, weeks later, your body was broken on the cross. This time, instead of our destruction, we were saved. Our words cannot express the gratitude we feel as a result of this sacrifice. As we are fed by this bread which represents the body of your Son, we are energized by the life it signifies. This we pray in the name of Jesus, your Son. Amen.
For the Wine:
O God, as new life entered the five thousand Jesus fed by the sea, new life enters our bodies from this wine which we have before us. Bless us as we partake, remind us of the blood shed on the cross. There, Jesus died so that we might live. Fill us with a renewed spirit so that we might continue to feed others. We know we can do this because of the unlimited supply of your blessings. Amen.
