Communion Prayers for the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost B 2009
When we have angry feelings, help us to bring to you. When we are frustrated as the result of seeming futile struggles to get ahead in our lives, help us to confess those to you.
When we have angry feelings, help us to bring to you. When we are frustrated as the result of seeming futile struggles to get ahead in our lives, help us to confess those to you.
We bring all of our troubles and conflicts before our Lord.
Based upon Ephesians 4:25 – 5:2 We bring to this table an endless list of problems. Some of these problems are the results of our own actions, others, the results…
Over the years, I have heard many lament the loss of values that the present world has. I have heard teachers complain about the lack of discipline among the children in their classes. I have heard grandparents worry about the indifference to Christian values in their grandchildren. I have listened to husbands and wives complain about the loss of love in their marriages. I have heard church members complain about the lack of loyalty to God that seems prevalent in our society. All these things and more add up to the urgency of our need for God's Church.
In most cases in our world, there are barely enough resources to sustain the world’s population even if evenly divided. This principle holds true for all resources required for survival – not just food. Notice the word ‘survival’ instead of ‘comfortable and healthy life.’
Lead us to a better life-- a life free from the dark shadows of doubt, fear, and hatred.
Oh Lord, our God, please accept this money from our pockets given for the work of your Kingdom.
Now, in this worship service, we have the privilege to keep most of that money to feed our families and provide for our households. God only asks that you share a portion of it with his church.
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” This gift is most precious to us and we cherish it. It feeds us with the true food.
The food that is on this table is an outward reminder of a different kind of nourishment. This nourishment is truly the food of life of which Jesus spoke.
