Based upon James 3:13 – 4:8
Oh Lord, God of all that is or ever will be, give us courage to stand before you. We, who will never, in this life fully grasp the extent of all that you are, voice our praise to you and thank you for that is and ever will be.
We struggle to be worthy of your forgiveness. We are full of sin and continue to be weak in the face of temptation. We speak words of anger, and hold envy in our hearts. We wish for what is not ours. We find ourselves continually diverted from your path of righteousness by petty yearnings, and even lustful hearts.
Guide us to a better way of thinking. Steer us away from that dark world that would have us dead to a vision of what you have made possible for us.
As we try to comprehend the depth of your love, teach us to love you and each other. These things we pray, in the name of Jesus our Savior. Amen.
